Why A2 Organics Bilona(Handchurned) Ghee?

A2 Organic Bilona Ghee is made with traditional Vedic methods from Desi Cow’s 100% pure chemical free A2 milk.

A2 Ghee is full of nutritive fatty acids, an ideal fat source for Indian diet. It slows down ageing process, lowers bad cholesterol and boosts metabolism. Its regular consumption enhances physical and mental strength for balanced and active lifestyle. It keeps the body healthy, fit and increases the potency of the body.

What is A2 Organics Ghee making process?

  1. First Fresh, raw, unprocessed Gir Cow's A2 milk is boiled and converted into curd in a clay pot.
  2. Then Curd is hand churned with a wooden churner, a method traditionally called “Bilona” to extract butter.
  3. The separated Makkhan (Cream) obtained through the bilona process is boiled in a thick clay vessel on mild wooden flame.

For making 1 ltr A2 Ghee, we consume close to 35 ltrs of A2 Milk.

A2 Organics Ghee is made from a2 milk collected from grass-fed Desi Gir cows only.

Hand churned ghee in this manner is good to retain health, fat soluble vitamins, which facilitate the absorption of essential nutrients in our body. Hand churned ghee also contains conjugated linolenic acid which is helpful in losing weight, particularly belly fat, and is known to slow the progress of cancer and heart disease. Additionally, hand churned desi cow ghee provides deep nourishment to all of the dhatus (tissues) of the body, also helping with ulcers, constipation and the treatment of burns and blisters. It has several other benefits as well.

What are the benefits of A2 Organics Bilona Ghee?

  1. Improves Digestion

Desi Ghee is known to be one the most easily digestible dairy fat. It helps in proper digestion, preventing constipation and detoxification. Ghee contains butyric acid which nourishes the cells of the intestines. This acid also helps in reducing inflammation and improving the digestive system. Unlike butter or oil, Ghee fastens the process of digestion.

  1. Weight Loss

The butyric acid which helps in digestion also helps to burn stubborn body fat thereby enhancing metabolism. Many doctors recommend desi ghee instead of butter for people with cholesterol.

  1. Increase in Immunity

Full of fat-soluble vitamins like A, D, E and K, Desi Ghee helps in strengthening immunity. These vitamins play a major role in the functioning of the heart, brain and also bone development.

  1. Reducing inflammation

As per studies, butyrate enemas and oral butyrate supplements (contents in ghee) are beneficial to treat diseases which can cause inflammation in the bowels.Ghee is rich in Conjugated linoleic acid, provided it is prepared from the milk of cows that are naturally grass-fed.  Any other ghee which might have adulteration will not help.

  1. Ghee for Lactose Intolerance
Even if you are lactose intolerantor casein intolerant, you can consume desi cow ghee without any worry. Since ghee is made from makkhan / loni, it does not have the milk solids or other impurities in it which other dairy products generally have. Also, casein (protein) is present in a really small amount in the desi ghee.

  1. Best healthy fat source

Our body needs some fats to assist the brain, nerves and skin health. These healthy fats are also vital for building cell membranes and strengthening them. If the ghee has any additives or adulteration like hydrogenated oils, trans-fats or oxidized cholesterol, it won’t benefit your body the way pure desi cow ghee would.

  1. Higher heating point

Many dieticians claim that ghee is really good for cooking, especially if you are frying food. This is because Ghee has a high smoke point. Other cooking oils generate toxic fumes when heated at a high temperature. But Desi Ghee does not react in the same way. Desi Ghee’s smoke point is about 500 degrees as against that of ordinary butter which is 350 degrees.

  1. Treating Burns

A natural and an age-old treatment for treating burns is applying desi ghee to the burn. Desi ghee is also known to cure swelling in the body. Even for skin inflammation, ghee is recommended. In case your skin is dry, ghee works as a natural moisturizer as well.

A2 Organics Bilona Ghee is yellowish in color owing to the presence Beta-carotene (a carotenoid which is a precursor of vitamin-A) in A2 cow milk. Pure A2 Desi cow ghee is grainy in texture, a feature highly prized as it denotes that a low flame was used while making the ghee. Pure A2 cow ghee is delicious in taste and rich in aroma. What is the shelf life for ghee?

The average shelf-life is 18 months. However, if you store it in the refrigerator it will last longer.

Is it okay to continue to store ghee in packaged jar?

Yes, you can. Though we suggest you put it in an earthen pot, as an alternative you can keep it in the jar provided by us. The jar is airtight and will keep the constituents of the ghee intact. Furthermore, you can store this ghee in the refrigerator.

Storing it in a silver container is a healthy option, too. Ghee can stay out on the counter for up to a month and lasts in the fridge for about 12 months beyond the shelf life period.

Is Ghee a subsitute to all available edible cooking oils?

Yes, it is. Pure Desi Ghee has a high smoke point (485 degrees F). This has to do with the molecular structure of saturated fats. Saturated fats contain no double bonds so are not sensitive to heat, light or oxygen, unlike unsaturated fats.

Why do we make our ghee on full or waxing moons?

In the Vedic culture of ancient India, ghee was made on the full or waxing phase of the moon. This period of the moon cycle is known as the shukla paksha or the white part of the moon, and is considered auspicious. It is said the moon is considered to rule or control soma; the juice or essence of plants, and of life itself. In the Vedas, milk is said to be the essence of grass, and ghee is said to be the essence of milk. Therefore, the waxing moon and full moon represents the increase of this essential quality.
